Have you ever heard of double cleansing?
Double cleansing is a two-part method of cleansing your face. First, with an oil-based cleanser then following with a water-based cleanser. This can help remove irritants, pore clogging impurities, and sunscreen that are sometimes left over after a single wash.
The first step of a double cleanse is using a cleansing oil or balm. The oils help to dissolve the dirt and makeup off of the surface of your skin while not disrupting the lipid barrier to the same extent as a foaming cleanser. This step preconditions the skin and acts as a buffer for the second step.
After gently lathering the oil on your face then you can follow with a normal cleanser which contains more emulsifying ingredients that will remove the oil and debris.
Many of us fear putting oils on our face, especially acne prone skin types. There is no need to worry because the oil washes off with the second cleanse.
Personally, I look for oil cleansers or balms that contain emulsifying ingredients which makes it easier to remove the layer of oil off with the second cleanser.
If you’re still hesitant to use an oil cleanser, there is the option of using micellar water or makeup wipes for the first step of your double cleanse.
Keep in mind, you want to avoid rubbing the skin attempting to remove your makeup or sunscreen as this could be detrimental to your skin.

Smells funky but promotes seriously dramatic results. Sulfur is one of the oldest known acne treatments. Historically known as brimstone, sulfur was used in ancient times to treat a wide range of skin problems. Today, it is used in skin care products to help treat acne, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, perioral dermatitis, fungal acne, and even warts! So I would say that sulfur is a jack of all trades.
How does sulfur work? Sulfur is a keratolytic. Meaning, it softens and dissolves impacted dead skin cells on the top layer of skin known as the stratum corneum. Skin cell build up contributes to acne and many other skin conditions. Sulfur also contains powerful antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic properties. Because of this, Sulfur makes a fantastic acne treatment.
There are many skin conditions connected to an overgrowth of malassezia, also known as yeast, in the skin, Such as pityrosporum folliculitis, tinea versicolor, dandruff, and seborrheic dermatitis. Sulfur is able to inhibit the growth of malassezia which in the end can help with these skin conditions.

The Triple Threat For Younger Looking Skin
I get asked a lot what my advice is for more youthful skin and the first thing I tell my clients is that the best healthy-aging product you can buy is a SUNSCREEN.
Sunscreen is essential in protecting your skin no matter your skin color and no matter where you live. Often people in the Seattle area tell me they don’t wear a sunscreen because it’s grey and rainy but think of it this way…..if the sun is in the sky then you need to protect yourself. I always recommend minimum SPF30 but even an SPF15 that’s in your moisturizer will do the trick if you aren’t outside much.
