HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST CLEANSER FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE

As a rule of thumb….if you have oilier skin then you will want to use a foaming or low foaming type cleanser. Foaming cleansers tend to do better at breaking up excess oil. Depending on how oily your skin is will determine the strength of the cleanser.

For normal to oil skin we recommend our Gentle Cleansing Gel.

This gel protect the skin’s delicate protective barrier as grease and impurities are gently washed away with this crystal-clear, no-soap, low-foaming gel. Unlike sulfates, volatile alcohols and other harsh cleansing agents that dissolve skin’s upper barrier as they clean (causing skin to feel tight, irritated and sensitive to other products), the plant-derived cleansers in Gentle Cleansing Gel are specifically formulated and tested to leave skin feeling beautifully clean and comfortable throughout the cleansing routine.

Does not contain fragrance, essential oils, colorants, volatile alcohols, urea, sulfates, acids, strong emulsifiers, lanolins, mineral oils, parabens or other commonly used sensitizers.

The next gel cleanser in our line-up is our Purifying Cleanser.

Good for Mild Acne-Prone, Oily, Moderate Acne-Prone and Comedogenic skin.

This gentle, sulfate-free cleanser has a uniquely thin consistency, allowing it to slip effortlessly beneath plugs blocking pores.

Pores stay clean down deep – where problems begin.

It contains a natural salicylic acid from Willow bark, plus foaming saponins from Yucca and other mild, naturally-derived cleansing agents dissolve surface oils and other debris on contact.

A patented blend of the most active fractions of Australian and New Zealand Tea Tree oils works quickly to balance hostile flora deep within pores without causing irritation or redness.

Skin feels ultra-clean and comfortable – never tight or dry.

Does not contain sulfates, benzoyl peroxide, colorants, synthetic fragrance or parabens.

Dry and sensitive skin should use cleanser with little to no detergent and they should foam little if at all. With sensitive skin you don’t want to dry out the natural sebum which helps protect the fragile barrier function. Generally speaking dry and sensitive skin should use cleansing milks like our Gentle Cleansing Lotion.

This cleanser gently dissolve makeup and other impurities that can irritate sensitive skin, without disturbing its crucial protective barrier.

This water-rinseable cleansing lotion rinses easily with warm water, so sensitive skin gets minimal contact during the cleansing process, and rinses completely, so skin isn’t exposed to the trauma of a toner.

Sensitive skin feels remarkably clean, fresh and moist, without the signs of irritation experienced with other cleansing systems.

Does not contain fragrance, essential oils, colorants, volatile alcohols, urea, sulfates, acids, strong

emulsifiers, lanolins, mineral oils, parabens or other commonly used sensitizers.

For a more medicated cleanser specifically for acne prone skin our Salicylic Face and Body wash is perfect.

DERMASPACE mentioned as BEST FACIAL in PNW by GOOP!

I always like to share any press we get so this is just a quick blog post letting you know that we have recently been listed as "the place" to go for skincare in the PNW by Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle blog GOOP.

We have already seen an increase in bookings so make sure to get on the books to ensure your spot - you are our #1 priority so please reach out to us if you have any issue booking.

Click on the photo on the right to read the write up - I love how they listed us as being in "Seattle, OR".....someone needs to learn how to proof read but thankfully there is only one true SEATTLE!!

Funny side story - back in the day, circa 1996, I was working at The Face Place doing the Iderm Facial you all know and love. The owner, Ernie Benson had a HUGE celebrity clientele and one day he was running behind and needed help putting his next client under the heat dome so I obliged. Unlike Dermaspace.....where there is just one bed per room....at the Face Place there are two beds per room so while one client was under the electrical another could be placed under the heat dome and you would stagger clients throughout the day.

So....I go into the room to help him put his client under the heat dome and to my surprise it was a young Gwyneth Paltrow, who was very sweet and introduced herself to me. At that moment I felt the presence of someone else in the room and I turned to look over my left shoulder and there was Brad Pitt (this was back when they dated.)

So......I've come full circle. Who knows - maybe Brad will enter my life once again too!

A fella can dream!
