Where are you from originally?

Born in Los Angeles, raised in SoCal till age 16 then Visalia, CA.

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

I wanted to pursue a career in theater. I used to dance, sing etc but after my first choice of college fell through, I volunteered for a regional reparatory theater company and was placed in the hair and makeup department and it just stuck. I found my calling. I’ve been working in this field since 1991. Life takes you in directions you may not have planned but ultimately find yourself so grateful.

Share an interesting or unique fact about yourself.

I’m a pretty good quilter & photographer. I’m always pursuing new artistic endeavors. Recently it’s been learning to DJ and I started taking piano lessons.  I like my hobbies.

How long have you been a part of the Dermaspace team?

Well….that’s easy…..15 years and counting. I opened the doors on August 9th, 2009.

What do you love most about working at Dermaspace?

Helping others achieve their skincare goals and being a small part helping people feel better about themselves.

Any memorable moments or experiences you’ve had here?

So so many. I have clients who have been coming to me every 2-4 weeks for nearly 15 years so I’ve been there for births, graduations, helping brides get ready for their big day….you name it. Some of my clients are like an extension of my family and have become dear friends. Also helping younger estheticians deepen their passion for skincare…that’s been pretty awesome.

What is your favorite service and why?

Honestly, I am a purist and love our signature Iderm Facial. It’s truly changed the lives of so many of my clients and all the add on services like microdermabrasion or Revitapen etc are just icing on the cake. I also love Collagen Induction Therapy (ProCell Microchanneling and Microneedling).

What’s your personal philosophy when it comes to skincare and beauty?

I founded DERMASPACE on the Buddhist principles of Mettā or Maitrī which means cultivating unconditional loving-kindness, friendliness, amity, goodwill, and active interest in yourself. We understand how hard it can be to deal with skin issues that can affect one’s own self-esteem and well being and believe that self-care and unconditional kindness to oneself is an essential first step in cultivating compassion for others.

What are your favorite Dermaspace skincare retail we carry and why?

Calming Repair Cream because I have such dry and sensitive skin and this is my #1 go to for others suffering from the same thing. I also love our Dual Action Clarifying Pads….a perfect blend of AHA/BHA and gentle enough to use daily.

Share a valuable skincare tip that you think everyone should know.

What works for your friend or someone on social media does not mean it will work for you. Also – don’t just give up on product or service after trying it only once or for a week…..it takes time. Be patient and trust the process.

What do you enjoy most about interacting with clients?

Being part of a team that works together to help them with their goals – I can’t help them if they don’t “show up” so it’s a true partnership.

Can you share a memorable client success story?

So many – but the clients who struggled with severe inflammation/acne who tried everything but finally found a solution at DERMASPACE.

How do you ensure each client has a personalized and enjoyable experience at Dermaspace?

By listening to their needs and educating them as much as possible.

What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?

Piano, dj’ing, sewing, learning new things constantly. I am also a film and tv junky.

Find an esthetician you trust and like and stick with it. Consistency is key – it takes teamwork. I can’t help you if you don’t show up. Together we got this!

Be gentle with yourself, be kind and use kind language toward yourself.

Mount Vernon, just an hour north of Seattle - think Tulip Festival.

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

A friend from high school made me aware of the industry - I’ve always been interested in beauty, but neither hair styling nor makeup resonated with me. I enjoy helping people feel good in their skin!

Share an interesting or unique fact about yourself.

There are five kids in my family, and our last name is Brady - everywhere we went, people called us the Brady Bunch. Also… I’m not a natural blonde!

How long have you been a part of the Dermaspace team?

Just over a year! But I plan on many more.

What do you love most about working at Dermaspace?

I truly enjoy everything, but I love that we’re able to make such drastic changes in our clients’ skin in a matter of months.

Any memorable moments or experiences you’ve had here?

Many! When clients tell me they don’t feel the ‘need’ to wear makeup, that they’re not shy of the camera, or they receive compliments… and facilitating them feeling more confident. It’s so rewarding.

What is your favorite service and why?
